Altsys Jazz Orchestra: Les mardis Big Band
The Altsys Jazz Orchestra, founded by bandleader and saxophonist Jennifer Bell and trumpeter/composer Bill Mahar, specializes in original Canadian works and lesser-known works from the jazz band tradition. The orchestra features some of Montreal’s most sought-after independent jazz musicians, many of whom are conductors, educators and composers in their own right. These musicians are united by a mutual desire to perpetuate and nurture the big band tradition.
